We depart Zoo Lodge at 09h00 or 13h30
for a drive through the Northern Suburbs to Hillbrow and Yeoville before
stopping at the Carlton Panorama, " The Roof of Africa" for a birds eye view of
Jo'burg. Passing through the city centre we take in some of the sights en route;
the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Library and Museum Africa. Next up is the
Oriental Plaza where they sell the best "samusas" in town. The tour finishes
with a drink is Old Melville which is one of Jo'burgs most exciting night spots.
The streets are lined with small bars, cafes and interesting alternative, new
age shops. Arrive back at Zoo Lodge around 13h00 or 17h30.

We depart Johannesburg at 0800 and
proceed to Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. Our first stop
will be to the impressive Voortrekker Monument, where we view stone carvings
depicting the migration of the Boer pioneers from the Cape to the Transvaal. We
continue into the city along Nelson Mandela Drive, passing UNISA (the largest
correspondence university in the world ) before stopping for lunch (own account)
at Melrose House where the treaty of the Boer War was signed. After lunch it's
on past the City Hall and then to the Paul Kruger House Museum for a short tour.
We then continue our drive through the city centre and visit its heart, Church
Square, where the city began. Next up are the Union Buildings where we stop to
admire the view. Leaving Pretoria we pass the Presidential Residence (closed to
the public) and return to Johannesburg by early evening.

We depart Johannesburg at 0700. En
route to Sun City we pass the Haartebeespoort Dam and the majestic Magaliesberg
mountains. At Sun City we take time to explore this elaborate fantasy world of
enchanted gardens and pathways. Take a walk along the bridge of time and feel
the earth move as you enter the realm of the Palace of the Lost City . You may
also want to try your luck at the casino or ride the white waters at the Valley
of the Waves. Then it's off to the famous Pilanesberg Game Reserve which is
situated in an extinct volcano where there is ample opportunity to get close-up
photographs of the Big 5. We return to Johannesburg by early evening.

We depart at 0830 and catch a glimpse
of Jo'burg city centre en route to Gold Reef City. This is an authentic
reproduction of Jo'burg at the turn of the century. It is a unique complex of
historical importance, offering a step back in time when the glitter of gold
lured many to seek their fortunes. Fully furnished miners' houses, museum
exhibits and gold mining artefacts can be seen. There are many shops, joy rides
and a train to take you around the complex. Take a trip down a mineshaft and see
how gold is mined. Experience a gold pouring demonstration and be entertained by
the African tribal dancers at the open air theatre. There are also various lunch
and refreshment venues in the complex where one can have a bite to eat or a
drink. We end the tour at approx. 1300.

Soweto is a city of surprise ans showcases, startling enterprise and vigorous
cultural interaction. Explore the historical, social and artistic aspects of
Soweto life. Visit the former house of Nelson and Winnie Mandela, the Hector

opportunity to gain a new perspective and personal insight into one of the

MAGALIESBERG AND HARTBEESPOORT DAM.....dt12
Duration : approx. 6.5 hours
We depart at 0730. Nestling in the
picturesque valley at the foot of the Magaliesberg is one of the most beautiful
man-made lakes in Africa. It covers an area of 2000 hectares and is one of
Gautengs favourite playgrounds. We enjoy the breathtaking views from the top of
the Magaliesberg after an exhilarating ascent via the cable way, which rises 378
metres from the lower slopes of the mountains to a station on the summit,
covering a distance of 1100 metres. On a clear day it's possible to see
Jo'burg's skyline or marvel at the paragliders, microlites and hangliders as
they ride the air currents below. We have time to explore the attractions
situated near the lake and have lunch at one of the many pubs and restaurants
(own account) before returning to the hustle and bustle of the city in the early
evening feeling relaxed and refreshed after our day's outing.
